Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure for your skin. Your healthcare provider uses thin needles to make tiny holes in the top layer of your skin. The damage helps stimulate your skin's healing process, so it produces more collagen and elastin. These proteins keep your skin firm and smooth.

Glowing skin is always in.

Microneedling creates microscopic punctures in the skin

Simply put, microneedling is the insertion of very fine, short, sterilized needles into the skin for rejuvenation. “When the skin feels these pinpricks, your body will naturally rush to heal them, resulting in a plumped, more youthful appearance,

Please keep in mind that not all serums are suitable for microneedling.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also called percutaneous collagen induction therapy, is performed using a handheld pen-shaped device, electrically powered, with tiny needles that make precise, microscopic punctures in the skin. These “micro-injuries” do not leave scars; they work by helping to stimulate the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling.

This process starts with inflammation, which stimulates the skin to produce new collagen (the elastic fibers that make skin tight, smooth, and youthful). Collagen levels in the skin decline as we age, and new collagen can be produced when the skin is in repair mode.

4-6 weekly treatments are recommended to achieve desired results. Through a series of sessions, microneedling can increase elastic skin fibers. Microneedling also helps the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin), which naturally thins with age, become thicker and tauter.

As we grow older, the cycle of new skin growth slows and less collagen and elastin are produced. This results in fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots (pigmentation). Applying creams and serums on your face may succeed to moisturise the outer layer of dead skin, but no penetration takes place to the living part of the skin. The active molecules are simply too big to pass through the ultra protective epidermis layer. Dr Pen creates "micro-channels" which allow for deeper penetration of serums and ingredients resulting in higher efficacy, meaning you get more out of your serums than usual.

post care

One of the most important answers to what to do before microneedling is to ensure your skin is in a calm state. That means that you aren’t using a bunch of products to treat your skin.

You should avoid exfoliating in the days leading up to the treatment. If you use acne medications, you may need to discontinue use for several weeks to months before microneedling.

You should also avoid topical retinoids and antibiotics for at least a week before your appointment. Don’t take any over-the-counter pain medications, such as ibuprofen, which can interfere with proper healing.

Be sure to wear sunscreen on your face during the two weeks before your appointment. Avoid shaving, waxing, or using any hair removal products on your skin during the week before your treatment. aftercare can be found here
